I believe one way to get people caring for wider environmental issues is by piquing their interest in the wildlife they see everyday and while the house sparrow is a common bird, it is on the Red List for British Birds, which notes its declining population. I think that is an awful thing when even a bird that has managed to adapt to our urban environments is struggling. Individual people can have a real impact on halting population decline and even contribute to future growth. That is what I hope to achieve with these artwork, I want to inspire people to care and get involved in conservation at a local community level.
